BRITISH FASHION COUNCIL ANNOUNCES DEADLINE FOR

FASHION FORWARD APPLICATIONS

Press Release

The British Fashion Council today opens its Fashion Forward initiative for entries. Sponsored by Westfield London, the award is to enable designers to show their collections on schedule at London Fashion Week, February 2008.  All entries must be with the British Fashion Council by Monday, October 15th 2007.

The BFC Fashion Forward initiative was first introduced at London Fashion Week September 2006 and supports designers who have previously received New Generation funding or are at a similar stage of business development. While all applications will be considered, it is unlikely that companies whose turnover is less than £100,000 or greater than £1,000,000 will be short listed.

Last season’s winners were Jens Laugesen, Richard Nicoll and Sinha-Stanic who showed their Spring/Summer collections at London Fashion Week 15th-20th September.

Jens Laugesen said ‘’It is an amazing feeling to have won the BFC Fashion Forward award sponsored by Westfield London, as it has allowed me to maintain a high profile presence at London Fashion Week. This kind of support is recognition on the highest trade level of my designs and hopefully it will allow my brand to increase its market presence considerably this season. Following previews in London, Copenhagen and Tokyo I have already increased my stockist list by 4 new shops and have booked appointments in both London and Paris.”

Richard Nicoll added ‘’I was delighted to receive the Fashion Forward award which came at a pivotal time for me and the business. The BFC and Westfield London have provided a lifeline and are great supporters of strong London based talent. This award has allowed me to strengthen our client base and to indulge my ideas for S/S 2008.’’

Sinha-Stanic said ‘’The BFC and Westfield London have recognised that once your business has moved up a step you need more help to keep it going. To keep your customers happy with good delivery times, while still being able to put on fashion shows. The Fashion Forward award has given us the opportunity to do this for two seasons in a row which has been fantastic!’’
