Laura Lees is the lady responsible for shedding embroidery's ‘granny image'. Rising to fame with a collection through Topshop, Laura is known for perfectly punky embroidery designs that include skulls, hearts and other tattoo like designs.
![]() True to form this collection was covered in ‘guerrilla embroidery' and had a fun 80's vibe (cue flouro lippy and big hair). Models wore oversized tees, sheer cat suits and full on 80's skater skirts in various shades of neon's, including pink, orange and electric blue. There was every style, for every shape, so whether you love a full skirt, or a simple shift Laura Lees has all the bases covered. Cap sleeves were a big theme, while necks were simple and included more sporty styles, such as polo shirt dresses, waisted with retro bum-bags. ![]() Capri pants were again another feature on the catwalk, and had a cool 50's vibe as they were super high, very tight and blood red. ![]() Though overall the 80's prevailed, hints of 50's skater skirts and 70's style sleeve shapes created a well rounded collection. ![]() Words Rivkie Baum Photography Paul Persky Advertisement |
