Whoever said fashion trends couldn't be mixed and matched? At Underage Festival on Friday there was a delicious assortment of clothing styles to pair with the extensive range of musical tastes that filled the air at Victoria Park. ![]() Teenagers flocked in hoards to listen to folk, grime and indie artists alike, clad in candy brights of fuchsia and aqua blue with jewel tone emeralds and ruby reds alongside hints of folktale chic and costume couture. ![]() Designer Marc Jacobs take on the trend came in the guise of rainbow shades in his Spring/Summer 2008 Ready-to-wear collection showcasing the simplicity of originality in design. His avant-garde silhouettes provide a new palette this season, just begging for experimentation this summer and his use of layering gives his overall collection a laidback appeal. ![]() ![]() Noki, Brighton based fashion designer and customiser, can also be seen to be providing alternatives to highstreet fashions by displaying an eclectic use of colour, fabric and other materials this season. He is confirming that D.I.Y fashion is more than accessible, alongside countless ways to pair coloured socks and tights to an outfit teaming with all things subversive. ![]() ![]() Young British designer Emma Bell is also proving to be a dab hand at the D.I.Y appeal, her collection of patterned prints leaves nothing to be desired and is brimming over from showers of artistic license. Her experimentation with material allows room for further enquiry into the boundaries of fashion, which continue to expand as more and more people explore innovative style. ![]() ![]() This summer there's no excuse to be a wallflower, with stores enlisting countless suppliers of innovative fashions, and haberdasheries stocking up on all the balls and whistles, now is the time to be inventive.
