The air was electric and the atmosphere full of real buzz. The talented girls of year 9, 10 and 11 worked as an amazing team to create a fashion show extravaganza that ranged from Kimonos to Bollywood!
Over the last month FashionCapital has been working with Rachel Ford on Understanding the Fashion Industry and applying business and enterprise into a school learning environment. On the first introductory session with Jim Forest and Rachel FashionCapital was amazed to see the girls working on actual patterns with the girls of year 9 understanding the elementary basics of pattern cutting and the grain of cloth! Last night was the accumulation of all of their work and the pupils became the models as well as the designers. Hearts were pounding in time with the music and the whole event was a spectacular success; the girls certainly had the charm and the charisma to become catwalk models for the evening and the garments lived up to all expectations – the Harajuki Girls were particularly impressive. The girls have been a pleasure to work with and the finale was a night for everyone to celebrate in such a well constructed and professional fashion event. One of the clear messages from the night was the sense of pride and teamwork that emanated from the entire event. Westwood College is highly innovative in such enterprising concepts.' Fashion Enter’s boutique in Croydon will now showcase the work over the next few weeks to provide added press and PR for the school. Advertisement |
