The stage is set, the models are ready and the venues have been confirmed for the first ever Brighton Fashion Weekend (http://www.brightonfrocks.com/). Brought to you by the same team behind the hugely successful Brighton Frocks fashion shows, launched back in 2004, Brighton Fashion Weekend promises to be a ground-breaking event that will put the city firmly on the fashion map
Brighton has always been a creative hub, attracting artists, writers and other creatives, all drawn to this buzzing city by the sea. Boasting top class restaurants, chic boutique hotels and some of the best British musical talent around today, it is perfectly poised to take centre stage in the fashion world too. Notable designers involved in this years' Brighton Frocks Fashion Show, part of Brighton Fashion Weekend, include designer Suzie Turner, who has dressed many A-list celebrities, such as Kelly Brook. Brook chose Suzie personally to create her a BAFTAS outfit to remember for the 2008 awards, and wowed crowds in her stunning floor length navy blue gown, immediately making it to the top of every best-dressed list around. Turner has also worked with other stars, including Footballers' Wives actress Susie Amy and Hollyoaks actress Danielle Brent. Other big designers showcasing at the event include Oliver Woo, the bespoke tailor who has three stores in the UK, including Brighton, couture designer Joanne Fleming and retro-inspired label Dolly Daisy Design. Visitors to the south coast city can expect exclusive workshops, fashion parades, Open Studios, shop discounts, fashion installations, special film screenings, a VIP after show party and other must-see events taking place across the city from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June. The main event, Brighton Frocks Fashion Show, will be held on Friday 13th June at 8pm, at The Old Market, Hove. Being hosted by Dolly Rocket, the Grande Dame of burlesque, it promises to be an unforgettable night. Tickets cost £14 or £12 for students and are available from the Old Market box office (Tel: 01273 736222 or go to http://www.theoldmarket.co.uk/). Brighton Frocks Fashion Show combines outstanding theatrical performance with magnificent fashion from talented designers, models, make-up artists and choreographers. It is the only event of its kind that provides local designers with an annual platform to exhibit their work. Most of the designers manufacture everything in Brighton, meaning that the event also boasts an impressive carbon footprint. Liz Bishop, organiser of the event says, "Brighton's first ever Fashion Weekend is going to be the most exciting event for us so far. Since launching Brighton Frocks in 2004 it has gone from strength to strength, due largely to the efforts of the extremely talented Brighton Frocks team who work so hard to make the event such a success. "Brighton Fashion Weekend is all about celebrating the diversity of Brighton's fashion scene," she adds. "We're working towards local and national recognition for the city's most inspirational independent designers, with a programme of great events that will make people sit up and take notice of Brighton's first fashion weekender."
