The Return of Georgie W. Couture's Blog
I'm Back, Yes its me, I'm back, not sure if you even remember me being here. I fell off the radar for a minute. Seriously the life of an entrepreneur is a hard one. You start off thinking you can rule the world and then it all goes pear shaped. I started off thinking I could do it all, designer, blogger, business woman, but eventually I had to take a back seat and say to myself, Georgie, you are not superwoman. Well more like Amazon woman, but we shall save that story for another day. Any-who enough of the sentimental stuff..Here is what has been happening with myself and my clothing label Georgie W. Couture. The year started off with a huge bang in February. My A/W 2009 collection "London Town" was on the catwalk at Nolcha Fashion Week. It was my most important show to date. Attended by prominent fashion industry people including the fashion capital team. My label was the only U.K label on the Nolcha catwalk so I had a huge responsibility to "represent" and yes I did..See the full collection at www.georgiewcouture.com
Come March and I was at the Mahogany Bridal and Lifestyle show. I had a stand at the exhibition that offered unconventional bridal wear and a personal made to measure service to the bride and her bridal party. The one type of bride that I kept coming across was the plus size bride. I had so many women come to my stand because they couldn't find their size off the rack and needed someone who would cater to them personally. Its a shame that even high street stores till this day still don't offer sizes past an 18/20 You can still find Georgie W. Couture In the April edition of Pride Magazine, with Janet Jackson on the cover. The label was featured in the "Holy Confessions" editorial. Thanks to Shevelle Rhule, fashion editor at Pride Mag and Hannah Osinua Miss Black Britain 2008..Look out for more Georgie W. Couture in the May edition of Pride Magazine.
I also got to work with Denise Brown, an acclaimed stylist, who has worked with the likes of Kanye West, Rihanna and Gym Class Heros. Look out for the Georgie W. editorial in the May edition of Touch Mag. http://www.denisebrownstylist.com I joined Henry Holland and his brethren's at the House of Holland party at Movida. What a night. Holland did a lil DJing session and I must say the boy is not so bad.
Very recently,I was an official sponsor for the Miss Top Model U.K pageant. I sponsored the gowns for the evening wear section of the pageant. The title of Miss Top Model U.K went to Katie Higgins, who looked a million dollars in her Georgie W. gown. Congratulations to Kirsty Nichol who won "Tres Chic" award on the night. Her prize is a feature in the Georgie W. Couture S/S 2009 collection to be shot in July.
