LFW: Berube – Audrey’s Dance Print E-mail

While some designers play up to press hype others quietly go about their business. Julie Berube is one such individual that has successfully built up her business and remained true to her unique sense of style…

Now into her 7th London Fashion Week season Julie Berube can already boast a range of international stockists, an e-boutique and her very first standalone store in Montreal, Berube’s hometown, opening later this year.

For autumn 2008 Berube’s relaxed easy-to-wear designs combine the flirty and the feminine with the bold and the brazen. Oversized pockets are a repeated theme, as is origami style pleats and folds. Light transparent chiffons are juxtaposed with shiny black patent and the collection for the most part sticks to black, slate grey and hot pink.

Each piece offers something distinctively Berube, this maybe in the form of a subtle detail or as obvious as her love of draped bucket pockets. Angelo Badalamenti’s leitmotif ‘Audrey’s Dance’ from the cult series Twin Peaks forms the backdrop to this Autumn/Winter collection - which was styled with huge folded and draped head pieces by Noel Stewart and oversized furry but fun Brothel Creepers!
