One British veteran that has always remained true to London is fashion stalwart Betty Jackson – who, incidentally celebrated her 25th anniversary showing in the capital this Fashion Week. Betty’s relaxed easy-to-wear style has won her legions of fans including the likes of Erin O’Connor, Laura Linney, Melanie Blatt and Davina McCall, all noted in the front row. Betty has the unusual knack of ageless appeal while maintaining her all important signature.
So what’s new from Betty for Autumn/Winter 08/09? Layering once again becomes key as she adds tunics and strapless dresses over polo knits and jersey tops. Shades are eclectically mixed and merged while silhouettes casually flattered the body without the cling factor. Sheer, metallics and contrasting textures remain strong for another season and big Henry VIII emblazoned knickers worn over opaques add a bit of fun to the proceedings.
Styling wise Betty adds a dash of shimmer with sequined neck pieces and embellished headgear. This hint of sparkle continued randomly on her coloured opaques while messed-up chignons and glitter cats-eye make-up completed the look.
