Retail Trends from the Big Apple Print E-mail
FashionCapital & Fashion-Enter Director Jenny Holloway not only managed to bag front row seats at Joanthan Saunders and Preen alongside TopShop's Caren Downie (how fabulous darling) but she also checked out the very latest retail trends that are making waves over the pond...

During NY Fashion Week Jenny Holloway explored the avenues of New York and undertook some trend spotting. In a nutshell you could find any colour you wanted and styles varied from fitted skinny jeans to the floaty boho dresses but some salient themes did emerge.

Key areas of interest were dolman sleeves, the return of the peplum, tea dresses, empire-line shapes in fitted retro chick styling then at the other end of the spectrum there was a "simplicity theme" with simple oversized outerwear, unstructured unlined shapes with soft shoulder lines and hand embroidered trims.

There was a great array of fabrics on display  that included gabardines and crepes, melanges, flat and smooth textures, satin backed crepes, small scale desings; birdseye and squares and of course denim and cottons in both damasks and jacquards.

Members now can review the trends in their glory on the "members only" section of the Fashion-Enter site but here’s a taste of what’s to come from the 100 plus images that were taken from the one and only New York City.

Jenny also bumped into an amazing woman - Luxor Tavella.

I found her when I was walking along West Broadway reviewing the shops and taking copious snaps of front windows for trends. From the outside the Vintage boutique Paracelso looks like a charity shop, dimly lit and a maze of press cuttings are "stuck" on to the front window. Intrigued I entered the boutqiue to stand before one of the most amazing women I have met in a long time.

Luxor TavellaLong grey hair, white faced with Mohican styled green paint etched on to her face Luxor stood before me in her glory. Her eyes were so bright I felt quite dazzled and her stories which made goosebumps errupt all over. This is a woman who has lived and breathed fashion.
