Photographer Nic Vidler and model Britney round-off their global shoot with a stop-over in Singapore…

Britney and I are now back in the UK following what has been an amazing adventure with a multitude of stories to be told.

Before departing Australia for Singapore we flew into Ayers Rock to capture some impressive images. Kudos to Britney for working in less than ideal conditions and putting up with working in the desert heat which reached 40 degrees centigrade. With the temperature being so high Britney's make-up constantly needed attending to and on account of being in the outback and with no make-up artist available for miles around it fell on her to apply her own make up.

The climate in Singapore was in stark contrast with that of Australia and although warm the humidity created further problems with regards to make-up and coupled with the fact we decided to take in a rather exclusive final destination before returning to London we passed on the idea of using a make-up artist and once again it fell on Britney to do her own make up.

Whilst in Singapore we gained permission to shoot in the Zoological gardens and Britney was allowed to pose with elephants and her favourite animals; the orangutans! We were granted permission to shoot in the vicinity of the Raffles Hotel but not in the grounds or hotel itself. We did however take in the age old tradition of having a Pimms or two before moving on to shoot in the market place in Chinatown. Britney had picked up a rather nasty insect bite somewhere along the line and we visited a health clinic before we continued with our shooting.

After a morning spent near The Raffles hotel and an afternoon spent in Chinatown rather than relax that evening we took the cable car over to Semtosa Island prior to departing Singapore on a last minute excursion which for each of us was one of the highlights of our trip. We flew out to Tioman Island for two days which was the location used as the mythical island of Bali Hai in the musical South Pacific. Britney surpassed my expectations when we visited the waterfall featured in the movie and realized a dream of hers to be photographed in a genuine tropical waterfall. With her in a bathing costume and me standing in the water in my combat trousers we captured a number of worthwhile images.

The following day after doing a final shoot on the coral beach it was with great reluctance that we bid farewell to the friendly islanders as we headed back to Singapore and the prospect of the fourteen hour flight back home to London. We were both suffering a bad case of the blues upon touching down at Heathrow but at the same time appreciative of all that we had achieved on our travels. We really did have the most amazing adventure which although it seems glamorous to others was actually incredibly hard work that left us both tired and drained. We have many stories to tell from encountering rock slides in New Zealand to stumbling across nests of large spiders in Australia and with me falling on to some very sharp cacti and cutting my knees open on coral reefs not forgetting to mention the insect bites we each received. At times the combination of the heat and our tiredness did put our working relationship to the test with there being the occasional moment of friction between us but ask each of us if we would embark on such an expedition again and the answer will be a very resounding yes!

In all we covered in excess of 26,0000 miles by land, sea and air, in New Zealand alone we clocked up 1,400 miles just driving between locations. Britney is traveling back home to her native Scotland this weekend and has a number of shoots already arranged and as for me the hard work now begins with me sifting through the 4,000+ images I captured on our travels.

We met up again on Wednesday to say our goodbyes to each other and to meet up for one more shoot in Greenwich Park which we felt an appropriate way to bring our trip to a close having really traveled around the globe.
