On
the arm of a winklepicker lad hangs an era; a girl showing dedication to an
early 1900s decade, be it by conforming to ‘The New Look’- a movement launched
by Christian Dior in the late 40s- or with rouge painted lips adorned by the
movie starlet’s of the 50s...by Petrina De

These fashion forward pairs can be spotted strolling alongside the Thames, on their way to a late night gallery opening or attending an ‘in crowd’ event. Their Facebook’s are cluttered with images from their weekends, taken by Alistair Allan - AKA DirtyDirtyDancing, as they bounce to and from Shoreditch shindigs.

The men, sporting messy curls, are a contrast to the carefully coifed locks of their partners, can be seen in black rimmed Deirdre’s shopping at Kokon to Zai with a gang of look-alike friends. Meanwhile, the girls clutch i-D and swan around Brick Lane in search for day dresses and billowing skirts.
The Era girl and the Russell Brand look-alike don’t necessarily have to be dating. It’s more of a partnership, even if it’s done without thinking, as it is merely coincidence that the two happen to compliment each other. It isn’t manufactured like Hollywood glamour, put together by a stylist ready to be forgotten in a fortnight; it sticks in your mind. These girls are on a completely different level to the Zoe-bot copycats that the weekly glossies constantly feature. They don’t let Vogue or Another Man magazine dictate what they wear and they certainly don’t look towards current A-listers for inspiration, preferring to be their own muse.
