Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and your Individual Business |

|
CSR has many considerations throughout the business and becomes in twinned in each of the business functions, disciplines and issues. It can affect everything that you do and everyone that you deal with.
You can run a profitable business and still have a conscious to help the business world and community that you operate in.
Here are some questions to help you draw up your own CSR:
- How will my business affect my local community – can I get that community actively involved so it can better the lives of the local residents?
- What suppliers should I be working with? Are they trading ethically? Being fair to their own members of staff and communities? Are they polluting the environment within which they are working within?
- How is your product effecting the environment? Can you product processes be more eco friendly? Are you repackaging waste? What dying processes are you using?
- How are you treating your employees? Are you abiding by legislative procedures e.g. contract of employment, statutory minimum wage, are you contravening the Health and Safety at Work Act?
All of these questions relate to your own internal CSR policy and many end customers now require policy formats on suppliers CSR policies particularly high street retailers.
