Cavalli for All Print E-mail
The trend of top designers offering their usual celebrity-priced signature styles to the commonfolk strikes again. 



Roberto Cavalli has joined the pack of famous designers such as Karl Lagerfeld (2004), Stella McCartney (2005), and Viktor & Rolf (2006) who have also designed one-time collections for H&M during the holiday season.  His collection debuted on November 8 in 200 H&M stores worldwide.




Cavalli designed 20 pieces for his menswear collection and 25 pieces for the ladies. As has been reported with past designer collections for H&M, surely it will be sold out soon. The collection is said to reflect his signature animal print designs and also his famous back-bearing dresses. The designs and fabrics will be modified to be sold at the approximate price range of £80.


Many celebrities enjoy Cavalli’s designs, but his biggest fans are the ones that don’t mind showing some skin. Just as some people refer to his style as provocative and elegant, others have called his skimpy numbers trashy. Beyonce, Victoria Beckham and Jessica Simpson are the most notable celebrities that continually wear his styles, but will likely not be elbowing other shoppers to get to the rails at H&M this week.




This trend of high-fashion for low cost raises questions. If a popular chain store offers Cavalli to the masses, does that reflect the designer’s decline or the chain’s climb? Or is it simply a moment of fairness in the fashion world?
