How can clothes be so cheap and readily available? Who makes them and under what conditions? Who’s paying the price for our fashion culture?

Recent news stories are highlighting issues such as the ‘slave labour’ used to make our clothes, whilst at the same time a growing number of luxury labels and high street retailers have been turning ‘green’ and launching organic / fair trade collections. From Stella McCartney to Sienna Miller, everyone is talking about the new eco chic. But what is it and why does it matter?

Eco Chic takes an all encompassing look at the rise of Eco fashion - from which fabrics are harmful for the environment; the ‘labour behind the labels’; who are the design pioneers; which mega retailers are going green to how you can create your own eco-friendly fashions through recycling and savvy shopping.

  • Get the lowdown on the sweatshop labour that allows shops to sell jeans at £3.99
  • Discover the exciting new materials that are free from chemical nasties
  • Turn your wardrobe green with stylish and eco-friendly fashion tips

Up until now, an ‘ethical’ wardrobe seemed either impossible or undesirable. However, the trends on the catwalk have changed as a new generation turn their back on a throwaway culture and looks for ways to make their lifestyle more sustainable whilst still being stylish. Eco Chic provides DIY fashion tips that are stylish, affordable and most importantly – ethical. This book will allow you to look great but also feel good about your
impact on other people and the environment as a whole.
