Summertime equals festival time as all good music lovers know, but festivals don’t just produce great bands and musical mayhem, they also showcase exciting style and fashion, from those up on the stage to the festival goers watching them. As I was heading to V festival in Staffordshire I thought I would check out what trends are present amongst the indie fashionistas. Of course, as predicted, the rain came and stayed for the weekend, making wellies the number one accessory! Apart from the trustworthy pac-a-parka, here are some of the key trends I spotted:
Hats were not only a great way to protect your hair, but also look pretty darn cool! Beanies, trilbies and straw hats a la kooks style added the finishing touch to many an outfit, favoured by guys and gals alike.
Ditsy print dresses, with vintage touches such as waist belts or leather bags, teamed with a leather jacket or chunky knit (pretty chilly as well as rainy)!
Pretty blouses in print or block colour worn with denim shorts or high waisted jeans.
Scarves, of course, the bigger the better! Worn loose over dresses and t-shirts. Paisley print, check, patterned, fringed, any colour!
Despite the sun not coming out to play, sunglasses still made a statement appearance with large and plastic being a key look, particularly in white. This being another look shared by both the lads and lasses.
Leopard print is still a big favourite and came in different forms, from berets to scarves to cardigans. Always adds a little rock chick touch, especially when teamed with skinny jeans or leather jacket.
Leggings do continue to be a staple piece, though opaque tights carry on to try and reclaim their place as a girls’ favourite to wear with a dress.
T-shirts, rock t’s, band logos, slogans were on display, layered up with a waistcoat or long-line knitted cardi and scarf.
My favourite trend I saw though had to be the boys using a tambourine as a fashion accessory, not only did it add to their outfits but meant they could play along with the bands, great idea!
