Textural contrasts made a big statement on the Autumn/Winter 07/08 designer catwalks. In particular the combination of matt and gloss not only gave a nod to the late 80s but broke up those one-tone outfits, especially head-to-toe black. Jens Laugesen rarely strayed from the sombre hue and yet his collection was the perfect blend of texture and tailoring.

The high gloss theme is especially strong in the accessories sector; patent platforms, glossy handbags and shiny plastic jewellery are the order of the day. As seen at all those high street favourites: Karen Millen, Urban Outfitters, Office, Russell & Bromley amongst many others.
