The beauty of the men’s catwalk shows means they are early enough for you to deduce what to invest in this summer for next summer! Take a look at Fashion Capital’s pick of the bunch.

Overall, the men’s catwalks were minimal. Shapes are pared down and clean with a lack of the theatrical ostentatious and overtly feminine looks we have seen of late. Structure is freer with a lot less of the restrictive skinny silhouettes dominating looks. Fabrics are lightweight but innovative. The colour palette is more modest with a smattering of summer bights. In summary; things brighten-up and grow-up.

chic geeks

Mid-way between over-exaggerated college prep and granddads wardrobe, cardigans remain the knitwear of choice complimented by jolly plaids and checks with Harry Potter glasses and nerdy ties.

mr sheen

Fashion can’t seem to resist razzmatazz and shimmery-sheeny fabrics are still a hot topic. From futuristic metallic to subtle evening lustre, men enjoy a touch of glamour in silver metal, midnight sky and café au lait.

neutral layers

From dove-grey to pearl; putty to cinnamon cream, neutrals are the freshest way to see in the summer and are a guaranteed hit year after year. These colours are thickened with lightweight layered styling in contrasting fabrics.

burgundy

A hue more commonly associated with autumnal berry shades, burgundy or oxblood add a dark depth to summer dressing and would perfectly complement the season’s neutrals in jackets, knitwear or tops.

napoleon

For a directional youth market trend look to military dress coats, gold braid, buttons and frogging details alongside the perennial skinny jeans for the rock ‘n’ rollers.

future fabrics

Fabrics are having an innovation makeover industry-wide. Fabric coatings and plastic finishes add a futuristic dimension to sporty cocoon and bomber shapes creating statement pieces in themselves.

monochromo

Black or grey and white prints are back again with repetitive artistic brushstrokes and sharp, graphic geometrics and are best dressed down with block colour separates.
