Model Watch: The Men that are Roughin’ Up the Scene by Christa Catharina Muller Print E-mail
While the focus of the fashion world is on female models most of the time, there is more to male modelling than Marcus Schenkenberg. Let’s take a closer look at his successors and see what they have to offer...

The All-round Talent – Will Chalker (Models 1)

With his strong and healthy looks, Will Chalker marks a move away from androgyny towards a more masculine appearance. The 27 year-old amateur boxer started modelling in 2000. Among others, Will has featured in ad campaigns for YSL, Paul Smith and Paco Rabanne. He's totted up many a designer catwalk show and was part of John Galliano’s finishing tableau. In 2004 Will Chalker was the first male model ever to be nominated in the Best Model category at the British Fashion Awards.

The Celebrity Model – Jamie Dornan (Select Model Management)

ImageYou might have seen his face in the tabloids as this boy has an exciting lifestyle, dating half the British A-list – including Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley. Born in Northern Ireland in 1982, Jamie participated in Channel 4’s series “Model Behaviour” at the age of 19. Besides modelling for Calvin Klein, his current campaigns for spring/summer 07 are H&M’s Collection of Style (COS) and Spanish brand Massimo Dutti. With the helping hand of his famous ex-girlfriend Keira, Jamie made an appearance in the Hollywood blockbuster Marie Antoinette. Furthermore, he’s trying his luck with singing. Front man and vocalist Jamie is gigging London’s hot spots at the moment with indie band Sons of Jim. Their latest single “My burning sun” was released 29 May. For Fall 07 he landed the Aquascutum campaign co-staring Gisele Bündchen, which was shot by famous photographer Mario Sorrenti. The shoot location was Cliveden, the former Astor family home and famous Profumo Affair backdrop. We’ll have to wait till August for the pictures to be published in Vogue L’Uomo.

The It-Boy – Danny Beauchamp (Select Model Management)

This beau is the one model that featured on all the big runways in New York, London, Paris and Milan. You name them – he’s done them; Burberry, Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Miu Miu, Missoni, Prada, YSL, the list goes on. But Danny doesn’t only secure the hottest fashion shows, he’s also first option when it comes to editorial spreads and a darling of the advertising fraction.

The Newcomer – Guy Robinson (Cape London Model Management)

ImageThe 20-year-old English model from Bristol is the fashion scene’s hottest newcomer. He stepped into the fashion light with nine appearances on this season’s catwalks among them Versace, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana. For spring/summer 07 he secured several ad campaigns including the Ralph Lauren Denim campaign and the Dolce & Gabbana ad campaign shot by Peruvian genius Mario Testino. If that weren't enough Guy is also the face of the new Abercrombie & Fitch campaign that generally features very sexy photography and his is no exception. His agent Alex J. at Cape London Model Management confirmed his latest coup: Guy will make some exclusive appearances on the catwalks of Milano Moda Uomo spring 2008 shows that start 23rd of June.
