Since I received my college degree, after going through a lot of debate on whether or not I should just start a job or if I should start my own label (which is something that I have wanted to accomplish), I finally decided that I will follow my dream and I started my own women’s wear label named ‘shyamoki’.

This summer I have launched my first collection, which has been well received by Fashion-Enter in Croydon and Koh Samui in Covent Garden. Well, that’s the beginning of my long journey, and quite its been quite a good start I feel, having made several mistakes, but am taking them all in my stride because it’s all a valuable learning process.

My style is an ‘East’ meets ‘West’ blend, and I source my fabrics and trimmings from all over Asia, but predominantly they are from India, reflecting the country's huge cultural diversity. Ever since I have been exposed to the exquisite handcrafts and embroideries of India, I have always wished to create a blend of all the different techniques available India from over 25 states, all with distinct individual characteristics. After finding ‘Aim’, seems like that idea is coming to life and with that an opportunity to help the artisans who rely on their skills as the only source of income.
