Croydon College Fashion Project

The name of our brand and company is TAINTED ANGELS and group members are CASEY (In charge of GRAPHICS), MAMBO PATTERNCUTTING), CONNINE (PATTERNCUTTING), JUDY (PATTERNCUTTING), and me FUNMI (BUSINESS) we are all great in our specific roles but we designed the range together.

WEEK 1

We all got together and discussed the project, as we all talked I was a  bit nervous because we all had different ideas but with that said deep inside me I was excited part been i was the group leader and I love being in control. Anyway, back to the group we decided to all go out and do trend research - I gave everyone what shop to research and asked if the girls were happy? They were, so that was a good start, CONNIE did LOW BUDGET SHOPS (PEACOCKS, PRIMARK), JUDY AND MAMBO did HIGH STREET SHOPS (TOPSHOP, ZARA), CASEY did STREET TRENDS and I did DESIGNER STORES (DOLCE AND GABBANA, EROKITORIS).

I set up a team meeting for the following and everyone brought their research - the girls really did well, we discussed outcomes and decided our theme and colour scheme based on our research and decided to go for the 80s.

VIBE which we thought was really cool, Mambo is in love with the 80s she couldn't stop singing Duran Duran, got on my nerves but it was cool at least we were all happy with our decision.

Meet up and decided on our moodboard, things were getting a bit slow, the downside of being in the group but had a good firm talk with the girls and made them understand that we are going to do this and be the best - it's all about been positive that gave the group a boost and some lovely wine did no harm at all. We all sat down and the table was full of images and we spent  one hour deciding on the look for the moodboard and Casey suddenly said maybe we should try and not think to hard about we should just let it flow and within five minutes the moodboard was ready it was so great. Also talked about trimmings, dye and fabrics so we concluded for the following week.

WEEK 2 & 3

We decided on the name for our range and company HI HILLS - Casey's job was to design an illustration with the heel of a shoe but after a couple of days Casey came back with a logo and name that blew our minds away TAINTED ANGELS (ANGELS because we are innocent and TAINTED because we are naughty. It was a fantastic idea the group loved and suited our theme. WELL DONE CASEY

Meet up to discuss our designs we all drew 20 designs each, MAMBO and

CONNINE have both done collections on their ND course and I had no experience on how a collection works so I let both of them decide on the collection. We did have a few disagreements but it worked fantastic in the end. I guess sometimes you have to disagree to agree, our final range was selected and it looked FABULOUS.

Had a team meeting the group was getting a bit down, with a little help of positive thinking the group was back on track. We decided to test dye some jersey fabric to see our colour palette and it turned out great, the girls have started producing their pattern pieces which is great, while Casey deals with the graphics. I tell you that girl is very good at graphics, and me I’m dealing with the press and PR called some stores, newspapers, can’t really talk much about that but it’s looking positive.

Everything is right on track – I’m so proud of the group WELL DONE GIRLS.
