Londoner’s save their legs from the bitter cold with tights of all colours and designs.  Coloured tights were originally available in solid cobalt blue, emerald green and red in the 1980s, but lime green and purple are the most popular today.

Coloured tights are best paired with a neutral-toned outfit, especially if there is a design on them.  Wear high boots or interesting socks over the tights to keep extra warm in the chilly city.

It’s easy to give your wardrobe an edgy urban attitude without risking the clown-effect that coloured tights can have.  Increasing amounts of black or brown hosiery with intricate designs are being sold at department stores.  Choices range from herringbone to animal prints and even glitter.  Dress them up with sleek heels or wear comfy boots for a casual look.
