George @Asda - plans for expansion The George clothing range is set for a boost to its global profile after the announcement from WalMart, who now own Asda, that they plan to run the clothing brand in up to 5000 WalMart stores worldwide. The range is currently being trialled in WalMart stores in Korea, Japan, Mexico, China and the US. WalMart are hoping that George becomes "the first truly global, high-sales, mass-market fashion brand" they said yesterday. Burberry - performing very well Burberry yesterday revealed a 27% rise in pre-tax profits to £139 million. The strong performance has been boosted by new store and concessions opening in such places as Las Vegas, Hong Kong and Melbourne, and plans are in place to expand into Russia and the Middle East. Burberry's signature trenchcoat in a new shade of hot pink last year, gave rise to strong sales. Marks and Spencer Breaking news this morning, M&S have announced that full-year pre-tax profits were £739.8 million to 3rd April, up from £715.7 million last year.
