Hi Everyone,

Well, it’s finally over! We can’t believe it happened and all finished. We are still in the process of thanking all those involved and clearing up problems. However, we have learnt that fashion shows are a lot of stress and hard work, but definitely worth it! Oh, and we have also learnt the hassle of driving in central London…Hayley!! I think we were mad for doing so much in a team of two, but we also couldn’t have done it with out the support from all the organisations, LFF and our fantastic volunteers.  Special thanks to Bianca Anderson, who was our third hand for the days leading up to the event.

05/05/05 was manic for us. We arrived at Kingly Court at 8 am, so see that already our lighting and sound guys had arrived and put up the lights for the show. Next was the catwalk setup and access to the backstage area, held in the fab Bar Umbaba, Ganton Street (well worth a visit). Unfortunately the first problem we had to deal with was the stage, it was originally far too long, but that was resolved soon enough ready for rehersals.

The exhibition opened at 11 am to Kingly Court visitors. Decked out in beautiful pastel accessories and antique style furniture from The Pier, the room looked incredibly welcoming and perfect for chilling out and admiring the work from six of our designers.

Setting up the venue, was an event in itself! Once we had transferred the wonderful plants and outdoor accessories from Homebase into the courtyard, we had to empty the building from tourists and budding shoppers, as the event was ticketed! People arrived early unexpectedly at 6 pm while we were still setting up the press bar! Our helpers were fantastic though and did a great job at ensuring that hospitality was maintained and all were having a great time.

The exhibition was opened to the press and the guests at 7 pm, an hour later than planed. Daisy De Villeneuve was fab, and did a great job of cutting the ribbon to the flash of cameras. Next door to our exhibition was the Levi’s accessories and footwear exhibition, displaying fantastic photography from LCF students who used Levis’ autumn/winter Midsummer Nights Dream theme into their work. This was where the second bar was held and created a great ambience for spring celebrations.

Backstage was buzzing with the sounds of frantic designers, hairdryers, excited models and panicking organisers. Luckily second year Fashion Studies students from the Arts Institute at Bournemouth took over the control of the area and did a great job of making sure the models were on the stage in time. The models looked fantastic, with amazing hairstyles from Toni & Guy and natural, but effective make up, designed by the LCF.

The show started at 7.30pm with a collection from Nino Nou, the crowds were enthralled throughout and the atmosphere was alive with glasses clanging, chatting and funky sounds from the stage.  The show ended with a prize draw with prizes from a selection of outlets in Kingly Court, who very kindly donated gifts and vouchers. An appearance on the catwalk was made by Hayley and I (cringe!), unfortunately though, we were not looking as glamorous or gorgeous as the other girls!!

Have a look out on the Fashion Capital site for a full event write up. Also please check out the event photographs captured by Elisenda Russell, one of our Fashion Photographers featured in the Fashion Garden exhibition.

It has been a fantastic experience for us both and we have fully appreciated the LFF support and all of those who have contacted us through the various websites and following our diary. We have been asked when the next ‘Fashion Garden’ will be already. We would love to do it again, and are looking into the possibilities of future appearances in the fashion calendar. Please keep a look out!

Hayley and I are both graduating in July and looking forward to working together to complete future Fashion and PR events. We currently have a few events lined up for organisations as a result of Fashion Garden. Our dream is to eventually start up our own PR and Event Company specialising in Fashion Events. So hopefully this will not be the last you hear of us.

Thanks again

Sarah and Hayley xxx

P.S Our email is still active, should you wish to let us know your opinions and thoughts on the event.

Hi Again. Hope you had a fab bank holiday.

This will be the last entry before the event on Thursday. We have really been ticking things off our ‘To Do’ lists this week, and making final arrangements to make sure the night goes with full swing. Hayley and I are both full of emotion, we’re anxious, panicking and stressed, but most of all excited!

Luckily we have had lots of people volunteer to help us out on the day with dressing and hospitality. Wearing our ‘Fashion Garden’ t-shirts and serving Beringer’s Pink Sparkling Wine, we hope they will help us to pull off a fabulous event.

We have had a lot of exciting people confirm attendance for the evening, from fashion magazines, boutiques, event companies and photographers. We also have three film crews present, including Toni & Guy Media and Channel 4. Expect some celeb spotting…well maybe!

Event set up starts on Tuesday. We are decking out our exhibition with fabulous ethnic orientated furniture and accessories from the Pier, and the beautiful work from six of our designers.

On Wednesday our Goodie Bag contents arrives! We have some cool bits to put in them including info about the fab outlets in Kingly Court, Levi’s merchandise and cool accessories. Some of the Kingly Court outlets have donated top prizes to win on the night, including vouchers, treatments, and discounts. The majority of outlets will be open aswell, running hot promotions, music and sweets. So make sure you go inside to bag yourself an outfit or vintage find, for serious after partying!!

Hayley and I will be arriving again at Kingly Court bright and early at 8am on Thursday to set up the staging and lighting with the production team. Can you believe it takes that long?! The exhibition will be open from 11am and then open officially by Daisy de Villeneuve at 6pm.

Once everyone is in at 7pm we will kick off the show, showcasing the 12 other designers, who are also in a frenzy and a panic, making final adjustments. Our male and female models are beautiful, and once styled to perfection by Toni & Guy and make up from the LCF, they will really do the garments justice.

Well back to the busy organising and working out the logistics…we have spider diagrams, brainstorms, ‘To Do’ lists, charts and schedules all over our desk…really better sort them out!

Hope you all can make it, we can’t wait to see you there. Ticket info: www.fashiongarden.co.uk/contact_us (there it is again).

Love

Sarah and Hayley xx

P.S. Please all pray for good weather! J

Well, Sarah and I had a very busy week last week arranging the last bits on production and securing models for our fitting day which was held on Friday last week. We also spent some time talking to the resident outlets at Kingly Court. We have secured some fab prizes for the night and hope to give away not only one prize but two! So make sure you buy your entry tickets on the door to win some great prizes. We already have some bits from Levis Footwear and Accessories to give away.

We held the fitting for our catwalk designers in the same room that the Fashion Garden exhibition will be in. Kingly Court 2.4 on the top level.  This gave our exhibitors the chance to pop in and see their space whilst we carried on with our manic fitting day. With the help of our fab fashion team, who will also be helping on the day and night of the event, we managed to fit all models to their garments in about an hour. Also, thanks to the patience of our designers we also managed to get photos of all garments showcasing in Fashion Garden so we could get a running order and a picture of how the garments should be worn! Lots of tricky garments!!! How will it ever run smoothly I wonder? Fashion photographer Elisenda Russell, who is exhibiting at Fashion Garden popped along to photograph the essence of the fitting day. Have a look at her photos below.

Other than sorting out logistics for the main event and organising the fitting day, Sarah and I have been busy distributing our A3 posters to all fashion colleges in the South East (and some slightly further out). So if you’re a student at an ‘arts college’ keep an eye out for our lovely posters on your notice boards and get your tickets quick!  We have sold a quite a few already and are really pushing to sell the rest before the night of the event. We may sell tickets on the door but at this rate we may not have any left!

Tickets are on sale and its first come first served basis! Please see the advert on the LFF events page for more information or see our website www.fashiongarden.co.uk.  Tickets are £10 and include a great look book about all the designers participating in Fashion Garden and a complimentary drink. (ID required)

AND…as if we didn’t have enough do this week, Sarah managed to secure ‘The Pier’ to sponsor our exhibition, which is also the room where the press can view the catwalk garments and accessories. The room will be decked out in extravagant furniture and furnishings from ‘The Piers’ new summer range.

So, as the pressure builds up for the last 10 days of  preparation for Fashion Garden, we have become more and more nervous and have millions of emails to answer everyday…we never thought Fashion Garden would take off like this! It’s great!

This week will be a matter of sorting out the final touches before the bank holiday weekend kicks in! So much to do, so little time!

We still need some helpers on the night, so please, if you want to experience the hectic going’s on of a live fashion event and you are available around the 3rd May to the 5th May drop us an email at… We especially need the help of some strong people to help us move things around the Kingly Court venue. Contact us!

Until next week…arrghhhhh

Hayley and Sarah xx

Love Fashion, Love Spring, Love Fashion Garden!

Hi all…

We have really been counting down over the past few days and weeks, and can’t believe that it’s only two weeks to go!

We had an exciting start to the week, when we received an email from Levi’s footwear and accessories, who asked if they could be involved with Fashion Garden! Their new campaign is to the theme of ‘midsummer nights dream’ and they have collaborated with the London College of Fashion to develop a fashion photography shoot with their interpretations of the theme. Ticket holders visiting the Fashion Garden bar will be able to view the photography exhibition and look at the Levi new footwear and accessory range. Our male models will also be seen wearing samples from the spring/summer collection.

This week we have confirmed that we will be holding a competition on the night to win a Goodie Bag full of hot prizes from our fantastic sponsors, including Levis’ accessories.

Tickets will be available on the door, but please buy in advance to avoid disappointment. Tickets are £10 and include:

*        Designer look book with event and designer information

*        An alcoholic Spring refreshment (for over 18s)

*        Entry into the exhibition

*        Chance to watch a professional live fashion show

*        Opportunity to win prizes and buy limited edition poster prints.

The link to the website: www.fashiongarden.co.uk/contact_us. Tickets are also now available in the LFF boutique at Kingly Court from Kiki.

We can also guarantee that there will be film coverage of the event from TV stations such as channel four, who are coming to film the exhibition set up, catch the show and capture the audience. So if you miss the event keep an eye out for a new series featuring the show and following one of the Fashion Garden exhibition designers.

We are still looking for volunteers who wish to work at the event, this is for press hospitality and set up, there is no more backstage dressing required. All those helping will be provided with our customised t-shirt and have the opportunity to see and experience all areas of the event. You can even join the press and VIP’s at our after party, held at the exclusive club, Bar Umbaba.

We have our fitting day with the models and designers this week, we can’t wait to see all the beautiful and funky collections come together and see them on the models. It should be a long manic day, but we’ll let you know how it goes.

Keep your eyes out for the Fashion Garden posters and flyers around Carnaby Street and in Art Colleges and Universities. There are three beautiful poster designs with illustrations on from four Illustration girls from The Arts Institute at Bournemouth.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Love

Hi

We have been to see the Fashion Garden exhibition room this week. It’s a great spacious room that has been designed with the exact purpose of an exhibition, very bright and great layout. We are pleased that Fashion Garden can confirm the outlet number will be 2.4 (second floor, Kingly Court). As well as displaying the works of the six chosen designers we hope the room will look suited to the theme and have an ambience of a brightly coloured funky Indian Garden.

Last week we brought you information on the six exhibitors and this week we’ll tell you all about the twelve young creative designers hitting the Fashion Garden catwalk.

Elinor Franklin believes that fashion should flatter the female form and her designs and fabrics are hand finished, like works of art. Elinor creates garments to be treasured.

Maame Bareyh’s, bold and striking collection is modern and individual and the colours she uses in the collection are a representation of an autumn garden scene.

Nirva, uses classic feminine shapes to flatter the female figure. With the use of the flower print her brightly coloured designs are perfect for a day or evening garden party.

Tiffany McColl’s couture designs represent the romantic, traditional evening wear worn in earlier periods. Her designs suit the theme through the tradition and romanticism created from the garden.

Carlotta Gherzi, who works under the label Sado, will display the collection representative of movement within the garden.

Designs by Faye Stenning, are fun and funky. With the use of the flower in girlie colours and fantastic textures, her designs are original and perfect for the ‘self customised’ look.

Nina Nou, draws inspiration from digital art and the funky floral design. Her striking designs are displayed on t-shirts.

Amy Hall’s, original collection is representative of the traditional period courtyard wear. With the use of modern cuts and designs, the culmination of the two makes a fabulous work of art.

Seven girls from the Arts Institute at Bournemouth have joint forces and are working under the label Almost Certainly. Their street and playful look couldn’t be best seen worn in the top parks of London.

Fashion designer Samantha la Pierre, capsulate the original and organic materials available to men today. Her collection represents the diversity of male fashion today.

Heidi Mottram’s couture collection of eel skinned floral corsets and accessories represent the use of new and original materials available to fashion today. No eels are harmed their skin sheds naturally!

The bold, striking accessories by Susie Penfold use the traditional flower shape to create a fab accessory alternative to the expected! An innovative way of displaying accessories, her designs will be seen on the models..wait and see!

All information will be available to ticket holders in the ‘lookbook’ provided on the night for ticket holders. These are still available and purchase info on the website. So keep checking it out for updates and info on are eighteen fantastic designers

Well it’s actually 4 weeks to go and as well as getting very exciting, it’s also nerve racking and stressful, but it’s gonna be a great day and we hope that you will all be there.

Until next time,

Sarah and Hayley xxx

Hi everyone,

Hope you enjoyed the Easter weekend! Hayley and I are on our Easter break from uni...but the goings on at Fashion Garden doesn’t stop, as does the Easter Egg eating!

Since our support from Toni & Guy, we have had a snowballing effect of other organisations getting involved. As well as models looking fab, Kingly Court will be decked out in funky decorations and garden accessories from Homebase and beautiful flowers from the fashionable florist Paula Pryke, featured at Liberty’s Department Store. We can also confirm that as well as bottlegreen co refreshments, Perrier water and Berginer sparkling pink wine will be served to our VIP’s. Hazlems Fenton, a chartered accountancy firm, are continuing to show their support to the fashion industry by sponsoring Fashion Garden. Let’s hope there are a few more sponsors on board by next week.

Ticket information is now available on our web site; ticket includes entry in to the exhibition a free welcome drink, ‘look book’ with designer information and the catwalk showcase. These are on a first come first served basis, so get em before there gone!

Hayley’s had a huge insight into graphic design these past few weeks, a stressful job, but the posters and flyers have now gone to print so expect to see them dotted about Carnaby Street and London region. All print illustrations have been designed by four second year Arts Institute at Bournemouth, Illustration students and put together by our graphic designer, Toby Tinsley at twentysixletters.co.uk. The print is beautiful and original, I am sure that we can expect to see their designs in print in the future!

We have six confirmed fantastic designers exhibiting in Fashion Garden. Kate Berman ‘Swing Gang’ designs original funky hats, which are set to be one of the next big trends this summer. Ria Roberts designs t-shirts with individual and original prints, as well as available to purchase in many cool London boutiques, these will also be framed and hung in a new, innovative way. Expect to see fashion illustrations by Netta Laor and Lucy Butler; these both take a new approach to the Fashion Garden theme and will be presented beautifully. Textile designer, Nicola Mole will have her silk prints and appliqué designs hung from the walls as will Elisender Russell, with her striking fashion photographs.

Well, keep posted on our news because next week I think we will have some more exciting news to tell about some sponsors we are currently in discussions with and extensive info on all the designers taking part in Fashion Garden.

So, until then,

Hi Again,

Thanks to Alex Krovina, who has been working incredibly hard on our website, it is now officially up and running and looks gorgeous. It will be updated regularly and we hope to bring you info about all our fabulous designers once they are all confirmed. Here’s the link again: www.fashiongarden.co.uk (as if we couldn’t promote it enough!).

Tickets will be on sale mid-march and details will be on the event website and LFF event board, so keep looking out, and book them early. Thanks to those from fashion, art and culture organisations who have already sent us emails requesting tickets, we are currently updating our invitation list for fashion press and organisations, so please contact us with your information to be added.

Like last week, we are still looking for designers to fill the few places left. Please keep requesting application forms; we love to hear from you! We also love to receive emails from those of you who have ideas and suggestions for the day, please keep sending them in.

On the website we have a ‘get involved’ link. If your not a designer but would love to volunteer your support and gain extra experience with hospitality, dressing and backstage support then check out the link and send us a message or give us a call.

We have been working on the hospitality element of the event this week. We have already confirmed a Pimms drink to be served complimentary for ticket holders and bottlegreen to provide a non-alcoholic alternative. We are still looking for hospitality sponsors, so please contact us if you have a new food or drink product that you need promoting/launching.

We are both very excited to be working at the LFF’s Profile 5 on the 9th March. It’s set to be a great event and we can’t wait to see work from more young creative talent exhibited and on the catwalk. It’s also a good chance for us to witness another live fashion event, and remind ourselves with the stress of a live fashion event, and what we’ve got ourselves in for on the 5th May!

Until next time…

Sarah and Hay xxx

Hi everyone,

Well, it’s been a while since we last updated you on our shenanigans! It’s been busy here in Bournemouth as always. Sarah and I also took a visit to Barcelona with our Course last week, what an amazing place. We ate some lovely food, shopped in some unique shops and visited a number of the famous tourist sites and galleries. Well worth a visit if you get the chance!

So, what have we been up to with Fashion Garden? Well, other than keeping up with the general day to day stuff, answering emails and sorting out the website, and generally realising this event is a lot of work for two people, we held a portfolio viewing day at Kingly Court on Monday 7th Feb. What a great location to be situated permanently! Sarah and I loved being in such a funky, creative atmosphere course took the opportunity to look around the shops in our lunch hour!

We were really impressed by all the designers and their work, thank you for coming to us, especially those of you who came from the other end of the country! What a busy day that was, but it was well worth it and we have now confirmed a number of spaces in the exhibition and catwalk. We are still looking for more designers, so if you are currently establishing a label/brand for catwalk or want to get your artwork shown through exhibition be part of this springs funkiest fashion show located in one of the west ends funkiest shopping locations! We are holding another viewing day on Thursday 10th March. So get your applications in quick! There’s not long to go and only a few spaces left.

Some other exciting news is that our website will be launched any day now! Please visit our website at www.fashiongarden.co.uk. This was developed by

We have also been researching ways of decorating Kingly Court. We are looking for a company or a college/universities that specialise in horticulture or landscaping/floristry to come and help us change the courtyard for the evening to look like an enchanting garden, with potted plants, amazing flower displays, fairy lights and bay trees etc.  If you are interested or know anyone who maybe able to help us with this (maybe it could tie in with a project at university) let us know.

We are still looking for sponsorship for certain elements of the event. This is such a good opportunity to market your company and services all over one of London. We still need lots of support to make this event truly amazing.

Any enquiries to .

Until next week

Hi Again!

Firstly to say thank you to all the designers who have sent in completed application forms, they look fantastic and we can’t wait to meet you. If you are a fashion photographer, illustrator or textile designer whose work reflects the fabulous theme, then we would still love to hear from you.

Hayley has been working hard on the production of Fashion Garden’s website. The front page is now up and running, the rest is still under construction. Please keep checking regularly for updates and news about the exciting event. www.fashiongarden.co.uk. Tickets will be £10 and info will be launched at the end of February. Please note the 5th of May in your diary and get your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

Due to Sarah’s exciting phone call from Diageo PR, Fashion Garden will now include a ‘Spring Bar’ at Kingly Court, serving a pre-show complimentary drink of Pimms or bottlegreen cordial. How exciting!

We are currently planning our busy weekend in London at the beginning of February, and have over 15 meetings planned with designer applicants on the 7th Feb, to view their beautiful collections. Very Hectic!! Luckily we have hired an outlet at Kingly Court for the purpose so we have our own base for the day! If you wish to visit us, pop in to outlet 2.9 or contact us. We have also arranged to meet with venue decorators. We hope to find an appropriate company that can turn Kingly Court into an enchanted garden ready for the catwalk show.

Please keep contacting us for designer application form entry, work opportunities on the day, sponsorship opportunities and event ideas. We love to receive your emails and thoughts.

Love

Sarah and Hayley xx

Hi,

Well, what a busy few weeks it’s been for us here at Fashion Garden! Other than celebrating the completion of our dissertations and starting another huge assignment, we have been speaking to all you lovely designers about your involvement in Fashion Garden. Thanks to those who have got your applications in already, if you need more time after the 21st Jan deadline please let us know we’ll see what we can do. The portfolio viewing day is provisionally booked for the 7TH Feb at Kingly Court. We may have another one after this date for those of you that can’t make that one. Remember though, applications need to be in first so we can book you in for a viewing!

We were also in Kingly Court Last week doing the rounds and talking to many of the owners of the retail outlets about their involvement with Fashion Garden. It was fantastic to have so much interest in the event. Thank you! We look forward to working with you all.

So, what else? We have secured more extensive marketing and press support through Shaftsbury Plc (Carnaby Street’s property management company) which is brilliant. Fashion Garden will be marketed all over Carnaby through eflyers, printed flyers and posters, A1 Tent boards, plasma screens and of course on the website! Also, the Fashion Garden website will be live shortly. Watch this space!

We are still looking for more sponsorship and creative collaborations. This is such a good opportunity to market your company and services all over one of London’s top fashion retail locations. Drop us an email!

Any enquiries to .

Until next time,

Hayley and Sarah xx

Hi all,

Happy New Year!! Well, the Christmas holidays are certainly over, and already the New Year has started to be as hectic as ever for us Fashion Garden girls! We both had a fab Christmas break from uni and also squeezed in a holiday, Hayley went to Belgium for a few days and Sarah spent the New Year skiing in France.

Thanks to all the designers who have responded to the adverts on the LFF website for a Fashion Garden application form, we can’t wait to get those in! We are still searching for more designers to apply, so if you or anyone you know designs to the floral theme then please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you. It would also be great to hear from any photographers, illustrators and textile designers who also work to the chosen theme.

At the moment we are trying to secure funding for Fashion Garden to maximise its full potential. Unfortunately we are unable to apply for a number of art funding bodies, as we are students, which is a real shame. We are currently appealing for sponsorship from leading retail organisations to collaborate with fashion event. Again, if you work for or know of any organisation that might be interested then let us know!!

Until next time, keep contacting us with any ideas you have for us and the event. We love to hear them. f

Love

Sarah and Hayley xx

Hello all,

Firstly, oh my god! We have had so much interest in ‘Fashion Garden since getting our adverts out on the general and events notice boards on the LFF Website. Sarah and I are really pleased, but please keep your applications coming in.

So, this week Sarah and I have kept up the MSN business mainly replying to designers who have emailed us, researching sponsors and funding bodies and generally keeping everything ticking over.

Some dates for you to remember, if you want to participate in Fashion Garden, get your applications in by 21st Jan (you can get these by either emailing us) One week after this we will be holding a portfolio viewing to choose the perfect collections to go out on the catwalk on May 5th and not forgetting anyone whose work will be displayed via the exhibition space. (Location and dates to be arranged)

We want to find someone that can design and make our catwalk. We are thinking a round catwalk would be amazing with the DJ in the middle. So, if you are a 3D designer or similar and just know you’d be great at doing this, give us a shout at the email below.

Other than a bit of Christmas shopping and present wrapping there’s not much to tell you this week.

Keep in touch; we’d love to hear from you. Our email address is .

Have a lovely Christmas everyone!

Hayley and Sarah xxx

HI Everyone

Sarah here with an update on all the hectic goings-on from the Fashion Garden world! The Christmas holidays may have started at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth, but there’s been no sign of a holiday for us so far! Just don’t mention the words ‘dissertation’ or ‘deadline’!!

Not being at Uni, is proving a nightmare for Hayley and I. We both live in different counties (Kent and Surrey) and are now running the event over MSN messenger and the telephone! Too much reliance on modern technology, when it works!

Thanks to graphic designer Dre, we think we have now finalised the Fashion Garden image! (There may be a few alterations) It’s a fab logo of a girls head with flowing hair forming the name of the event. It also contains beautiful garden creatures and flowers. The logo however will not be exposed until our promotional material is out, and in the mean time we will be displaying Fashion Garden in the font taken from within the logo. Confused?! Don’t be it will all be clear, especially when our website is up and running!

Having had a few funding knock backs already (being students means we are not eligible apparently!) we are now looking for serious sponsorship so we can fund this event, which we are positive is going to cost a bomb! We have already contacted a few organisations and companies and will be sending out the sponsorship proposals in the New Year. We are looking for both money and goods in kind. So if you have any ideas or know of any companies that might sponsor this fantastic event then please let us know!

Hayley has come up with a brilliant idea to promote the event. She has thought about approaching a magazine to run a model competition, and the chosen girls can model at Fashion Garden, but it’s just an idea, what do you think? It would be cool to get a magazine onboard. Do you work for a mag? Let us know.

If you are a designer who works to the Fashion Garden theme and interested in having your work showcased at Kingly Court, then get in touch. Keep an eye out for our notice board on the LFF website where you will be able to download an application form. So start applying ASAP.
