So each week we find 10 top tips and secrets that will save you the time in finding them yourself. Note: Don’t forget you can email a question. Is there something that remains frustrating about the internet that you want to have an answer for? Simply press reply to this email and we’ll either answer it by email or add it to next week’s newsletter. 1. Ever wanted to ‘Find Out Your own IP Address?’ Then go here: http://www.lawrencegoetz.com/programs/ipinfo/2. Google image search! Although we don't know specifically what the algorithm is for determining which images appears at the top, it seems like images that are named exactly the same as the original search phrase do pretty well. Presumably, people search for images in subjects they're interested in, so here's how you might be able to exploit this: Create small advertising images that contain your URL and the reason why people should visit your site. Name them in such a way that people might search and find them. In other words, if you're running, oh...a web marketing newsletter, you might call your images things like... online_marketing.jpg internet_promotion.gif etc. Words separated by underscores (_) seems to do better than those without. Then, just upload them to your site and submit those pages to Google. 3. Help others to help you… Prepare a standard letter in reply to a problem that you see on a website or newsletter. (How many times to you come across this in a frustrating day?) In this reply subtly suggest you’d welcome anything they could offer as publicity for your product. They may add an advert with no cost to their next newsletter, which they send to 10,000 people. So help others to help you! 4. Exploiting the "Reprint Rights" Phenomenon. If you feel competent, write a report on your chosen subject. Make it full of useful information and put in a few links back to your website for further information or fuller listings. If the report is good allow others to reprint it for f-r-e-e. Whilever it contains your links you’ll be getting visitors to your website. If the report is good you’ll also increase exposure and respect. 5. When designing your web page or a newsletter make sure that your paragraphs are not too long – each paragraphshould be no more than 3 or 4 sentences long. This is because people on the web simply don't have the time or the inclination to read long paragraphs. 6. Try to ensure that every web page contains links to other pages. Preferably using page descriptions that include keywords. This can often lead to a higher ranking for your page.
7. Once you have created the page, ensure that the name of the file in which it is saved contains the keyword and that the individual words of the keyword are separated by hyphens. In this case, instead of the name of the file being called thebeautyofegypt.htm it should read the-beauty-of-egypt.htm. This will get you a higher ranking in the few search engines which give a lot of emphasis on the keyword being present in the file name.
8. This method of naming files should also be remembered when buying a new domain name. Don’t buy thebeautyofegypt.com’ as the search engines recognise that as one word and therefore it means nothing. It should read the-beauty-of-egypt.com’; here the search engine will pick out Egypt as it is a separate word. 9. I was once asked, "How do you find time to write books?" I write each newsletter so that it forms the next few pages of a book. Generally after a year of weekly newsletters you’ve got the majority of the content you’ll ever need; which of course you’d investigated and compiled on a weekly basis. 10. Why do web sites have frequently asked question pages? It obviously saves time answering the same questions over and over. But what can that teach us? Automation! The more automated your business can become on the internet the more time you can spend on the important things. But first here is the page for your F_R_E_E ‘Front Page’ add-on download. http://www.solution-shelf.com/FrontPage/ErrOmi/EULA/EULA.htmSecondly here is your F_R_E_E ebook download on how to produce successful newsletters. http://www.email-despatch.co.uk/success.htmBye for now...
