Street Trends – Autumn/winter 04
It’s a wrap
For the second or third year running the scarf is still making an impact on the street. - Continually reinventing itself as key seasonal accessory in a range of styles, proportions, colours and textures.

Knitted variations of scarves are key this season, with chunky homespun effects keeping winter chills at bay. Fashion and function are perfectly matched, as most directional styling option is to wrap-to-the-max creating a layered effect.
Alternatively finer-gauge knits slung loosely around the neck and trailing past waist level are hot with jeans and look set to continue as a key style accessory next season when combined with more tailored masculine looks.

Worn with or without outerwear, the scarf looks fresh against contrasting textures such as sportswear fabrics. In winter-white the effect is striking and elevates the humble scarf to the focus of attention.
Pom poms prove cute styling details, while tassels create an ethnic feel along with loosely knitted handles or cobweb knit effects. Fabrics such as baby soft angora, chenille and Aryan knits are key, and finer-gauge metallic yarn knits are perfect festive dressing.

Think the casual campus chic of Ali McGraw in Love Story to score a straight A in the style stakes!
