Edinburgh Fashion Week Harvey Nichols restaurant Edinburgh

Edinburgh is planning to put itself on the fashion map with its very own version of Fashion Week. The City Council and Edinburgh City Centre Management Company are working together on a promotional campaign – ‘Experience Edinburgh’ and are keen to promote the Scottish capital as a major fashion player. The city already offers stores such as – Harvey Nichols, Armani and Louis Vuitton, along with various swanky bars and clubs. These stores, plus many others have already shown a great deal of interest in the project. Still in its planning stages funding has yet to be confirmed, Edinburgh City Centre Management Company hope to gain backing from the private and public sectors. ‘Experience Edinburgh’ is due to launch next spring and if all goes to plan Edinburgh Fashion Week should debut in the autumn.

Karl 4 H&M

Who would have thought that a High Street giant such as H&M would get the stylishly cool in a tizz, but I guess when it’s a party for Karl Lagerfeld’s designs complete with H&M prices - celebrating seems like the right thing to do. A crowd of about 800 turned up at Georges, Paris, to toast the launch of Lagerfeld’s capsule H&M collection. Model Erin Wasson, who also features in the Ad campaign, was at hand to model some of Lagerfeld’s High Street creations. Key pieces include - a double-breasted coat, tuxedo shirts, ruffled dresses, skinny dark denims and a sequined black blazer. The line is due to hit H&M stores on the 12th November.

Swap-Shop

Swapping parties are on the increase with London ladies. No not that kind of swapping, we are talking fashion here! Instead of taking those rejected items to the local charity shop, London girls are recycling amongst friends, well they do say – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

On The Street…

Summer has died and those autumn/winter items are getting a good old airing. Scarves are everywhere from chunky knit to slinky and sequined. Ponchos are beginning to wane – it was, after all, a case of – too much too soon. Texture is everywhere and in true British style contrasting fabrics and tones are being worn all at once. Key colours of late include: berry, purple, teal, emerald, chocolate and a fair bit of black. While on the touchy feely front - jersey, denim, tweed, knits and fur are also thrown into that hotchpotch mix.

And For A Limited Time Only…

Umbro will have a temporary store in London’s East end. From next week only you can have a nose at the very latest limited edition Umbro pieces as created by designer - Kim Jones.
Visit: 17, Kingsland Road, E2.
