Katarina Mutic has been creating elegant yet titillating designer shoes for six years. She founded her own label Mootich in 2000. Mootich has already signaled her out as one of the most exciting young designers in British fashion noted by the British Fashion, Council (BFC). Her collections have already generated extensive interest in the UK fashion press – including photo shoots in Vogue, Elle, Harpers & Queen, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Face, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, You, Sky, and In Style magazines. Mootich shoes have supposedly been spotted on glamorous celebrities at the BAFTA awards the ‘British Oscars’.
She is the only footwear designer to have received the prestigious New Generation Award (BFC) three times. Previous award winners include some of the UK’s top fashion names, such as Alexander McQueen, Julien Macdonald and Matthew Williamson. In 2003 Katarina was nomination for Elle’s designer breakthrough of the year award.

Main line: To gain a stronger presence in the international designer shoe market though consistently producing intoxicatingly elegant, yet original shoes made with the highest standard of craftsmanship.
Diffusion line: To introduce an affordable yet luxurious fashion shoe for the high street market, while maintaining brands unique style.
Philosophy Behind the Brand
The Mootich line is composed of detailed variations that flow seamlessly through a collection of boots, wedges, stilettos, and mules. Every shoe shows an impassioned attention to detail using exotic but practical trimmings such as beads, chains, and fabrics like silk and cotton. Some styles are slipper like; some are daywear; others are evening oriented; however, they all share the sophisticated attention to detail that form Katarina’s unique stylist trademark. Explaining her approach to design, Katarina says, “I aim to change people’s perceptions towards high-fashion shoes: to remind them that elegant, comfortable footwear need not be an oxymoron. I do not want to produce just another beautiful shoe – but one which makes women feel sensational’
Designer Biography: Katarina Mutic

Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia Katarina left her native country in 1991. She headed straight for the fashion capital of Europe, Milan. Katarina started her fashion training with a scholarship to the Marangoni Institute for Fashion Design in Milan. In 1997, Katarina studied in London at Cordwainers College, which is the training ground for many of the UK’s top names in footwear design.
As a student she won several awards, including 1999 EMAP United Kingdom Student Designer of the Year Finalist in both Footwear and Accessories categories. She also designed two catwalk collections in her final year at Cordwainers College, for Robert Cary-Williams’ during London Fashion Week.
Due to demand in 2000 she launch her own high-fashion shoe label Mootich and started to wholesale nationally then internationally. In 2003 she opened her first shop on London’s trendy Portobello Road.
In 2003, Katarina was appointed designer of Lanvin’s Spring/Summer 2003 women’s
footwear collection. This was the second season running that Katarina worked with Albert Elbaz, Lanvin’s Art Director, Elbaz was formerly with Guy Laroche in the mid-1990s, he was then appointed women's ready-to-wear designer of YSL Rive Gauche. In 2001 he joined Lanvin, and within one month of Katarina joining – she was appointed as consultant women’s footwear designer.
