London Fashion Week Latest…
Julien Mcdonald got tongues wagging last February when he mentioned that he was considering a move to Milan. He is, however, staying put and will be showing his Spring/Summer 2005 collection in London. Other established designers on the LFW schedule include: Paul Smith Women, Nicole Farhi, Clements Ribeiro, John Rocha, Ben di Lisi, Betty Jackson and Jasper Conran. A total of 45 designers will present on schedule catwalk shows over the five days of London Fashion Week, with around 30 or so off-schedule presentations and numerous static shows. More than 4,500 buyers, journalists and photographers from around the world are expected to attend. Stuart Rose, chief executive of Marks & Spencer and chairman of the British Fashion Council, said: “This season’s London Fashion Week will be fresh, challenging, classic and brilliant – it’s as eclectic and inspiring as London itself.†Website of the Week… If you enjoy dressing up paper dolls then this is a site for you. From ‘Gunguro’ to ‘Office Lady’ and ‘Cutie-kei’, Japan always has a look of the moment that the girls can’t seem to get enough of. This summer it’s ‘Erogance’ – erotic elegance. Taking the beach look to the city it involves bikini tops and wrap skirts combined with wedge heels. Coming Soon… From the end of October the Museum of London will be devoting an entire exhibition to the diversity of fashion in London. ‘The London Look’ will celebrate styles galore, including the Sixties Mod, punk, Asian Underground, Savile Row tailoring, vintage threads and much, much more. Current designers to be included in the exhibition include the likes of: John Galliano, Kim Jones and Damaris. There will also be a book to accompany the exhibition: The London Look: Fashion From Street to Catwalk, £30. The exhibition is due to open October 29th, for more info visit www.museumoflondon.org.uk

One of London’s hottest talents Sophia Kokosalaki will not be showing at London Fashion Week this season. Kokosalaki has been incredibly busy designing costumes for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics this summer, which has resulted in a delay with her own eponymous collection. Instead the designer will show a few weeks later during Paris Fashion Week. Her PR insists that the move represents a logistical decision rather than a permanent transfer to the French capital.

It’s September already, which means it’s time for all those closing parties in Ibiza. (Apparently, there’s been a summer but it has certainly passed by me.) In the eyewear department this season clubbers have been opting for vintage style white-rimmed shades – for those look at me moments.
