Burberry Banned
Burberry has become synonymous with ‘football hooligans’ over in Leicester. It is thought that well-known football hooligans have adopted a particular dress code, which includes highly recognizable items from; Burberry, Stone Island, Aquascutum and Henri Lloyd ranges. Two Leicester pubs are so fed-up with the trouble caused by these ‘designer hooligans’ that they have banned drinkers who wear the above labels from entering their establishments. Burberry commented that “It is clearly a localized issue,†which is rather insignificant in relation to the brands global appeal, while Henri Lloyd has called the ban a “ridiculous prejudice.â€

Advertisers Get Real Dove has reported an excellent response to their summer print ad campaign. Appearing on billboards, buses and in magazines, the Dove campaign features ‘real’ women, of all shapes and sizes to promote its body firming cream. Gone are the super-slick images of skinny teenage supermodels, and in comes an assortment of women with size 12 plus figures twinned with a confident attitude. The manufacturers of Dove beauty products announced that their body firming cream had leapt by a huge 700 per cent and believe that the ad campaign effectively relates to everyday women. With such spectacular results it will be interesting to see if more companies follow suit.
