Greece is aiming to put itself directly onto the global fashion map with its very own fashion week.
D.I. Moda Athena will provide complete organisation, promotion and support for the event which is to include new and established designers. Greek Fashion Week will be supported by the Hellenic Foreign Trade Board, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Greek National Trade Confederation.
It is hoped that London based favourite - Sophia Kokosalaki will feature at the first ever Greek Fashion Week, due to take place 14 -17 October. Kokosalaki is also set to make her Olympic debut with a range of designs that will be seen during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Athens Olympic Games.
A wave of Greek Fashion designers have been stamping
New talent will also be pushed at D.I. Moda Athena and the biannual event will also promote the industries – stylists, models, make-up artists, hair stylists and photographers. Meanwhile, Grecian style – seems to remain a summer favourite with many a top designer. Creations featuring fine pleats, drapes and twists this summer came from the likes of – Donna Karan, Martine Sitbon, Louis Vuitton, and Warren Norohna. Expect more next summer as Olympian/Greek style gets set to inspire.

Organized by D.I. Moda Athena, the idea is to promote and showcase Greek design talent on an International scale. It looks like Greece is set for a bout of world-wide attention with the up-and-coming Olympic Games sparking-off a number of business initiatives and schemes.

Greek Vogue is also celebrating the up-and-coming Olympics with a cover shoot featuring Naomi Campbell in a transparent white and gold Grecian inspired dress. Campbell flew over to Athens last week to join the Vogue team for the launch party of the special August issue.
