His retail career began with a 17 year stint at M&S. Being the Chairman of British Fashion Council his appreciation for fine fashions helped to rescue M&S from the basket case it had become. After M&S went through a style shock in 2004, Sir Stuart Rose returned as a CEO which proved to be an effective comeback strategy. He managed to firmly put M&S back on the map again and secured his reputation for success in Britain's Retail Sector.
Fifty Eight years old and one of Britain's best known retail tycoons, Sir Rose managed to have a winning effect with his strong commitment to ethical values. Through being in the vast expanded retail sector, he always stated ‘every business needs to address the major environmental, ethical and social challenges'. He created a diverse scenario for the retail sector and administered the company getting billions of pounds not only for M&S but also his previous company the Arcadia Group.
