Hanging it all together for the fashion industry

I should have married a rich man........! There is so much happening at the LFF that I am merrily beginning to spin like a tornado along with the rest of the crew at LFF! The Bluewater launch was a great hit and it was fantastic to see the designer collections looking so strong in the white marble and chrome shop fit.  We are absolutely blessed to select some highly trained sales staff and our manager Nalini is loving it.  Well done for all the hours you put in ladies - it was well worth it.

Nalini Rajagopal - manager

Alice Philips and Nikki Wilson

Racheal Costa and Alice

Rachel  Skinner

as well as Pia White, Melvine Maden and Ruth Healey.

Sales are booming - I can see why the pundits herald Bluewater as the Shopping Mall of Europe - there are people everywhere and they literally shop till they drop! Already almost all the designers have re-stocked and replinished their lines.  The best sellers this week are from Actar Actar, Forest, Gushlow and Cole, Natasia and Jenni Red Stone.

Kingly Court boutique was also flying last week no doubt helped by a great write up in the Londoner paper of the boutique and the manageress Kiki. Kiki's diaries are proving to be very popular click here to read this weeks latest adventure!!

What do you think of the new Museum section?  We held another productive meeting with Carol Meads of the British Library and her staff Karen Nesbitt and Maria Lampert and, as per the feedback from our FashionCapital users, we have revamped the whole section - there are now five main areas each with wonderful imagery to provide a source of inspiration for you.

1)  Fashion through the ages

2)  Fashion around the world

3)  Periodicals and library

4)  Exhibitions

5)  Textiles

The word of www.fashioncapital.co.uk is now going from strength to strength and we are delighted to be working with www.pantherstyle.com  We are now working with the Editor Chris Coker  who has painstakingly created the site over the last 12 months. A true achievement. We are working with Chris on a new diary section Hit and Miss, trends, new editorial on specific business issues including marketing.

Nick Fenner has also kindly provided us with more legal eagle information. Next year we are going to concentrate on this section of the site and develop it further. Nick Fenner has some great ideas! http://www.fashioncapital.co.uk/index.php?option=content&task=view&Itemid=27&id=1940/27/

Finally the Urban Wear project with Dulwich Youth Club has got off to a flying start..... http://www.fashioncapital.co.uk/index.php?option=content&task=view&Itemid=27&id=1935/27/

Joy Ekpeti  will be providing a weekly update in our Diary section entitled Urban Wear Diaries as from next week. Well worth reading the progression of the 17 young teenagers in the quest to follow their dreams as a fashion designer.

Have a great week, until next time.

To Fur or to Faux, yes that old debate again!
Ever since the notorious “We’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur’ campaign over a decade ago the ‘for and against’ fur debates have raged on. Now the fur industry has thrown an additional spanner in the works by claiming that fakes are ‘environmentally unfriendly,’ a statement that has certainly got those fashionable tongues a-wagging.
