Hanging it all together for the fashion industry
NEWSLETTER

1.25 million hits and rising! To be exact 1,25………………………………………………………hits were recorded for the month August on FashionCapital  - an amazing result for all concerned! In particular, the job section is now positively humming with employment opportunities being advertised on a daily basis. Jobs are varied from fabric buyers to pattern cutters……the world’s your oyster on www.fashioncapital.co.uk!

Well it’s nearly the end of summer (all working mothers please exhale!) and what a washout it’s been for the high street. With the highest recorded rainfall figures for August and an increase in interest rates clothing sales were generally flat over the summer period despite an initial strong start. A recent CBI survey reported that generally optimism is low by retailers with only 2% confirming sales were up this August compared to last year. Perhaps this is just one reason why more and more designers are now on the www.fashioncapital on line boutique. It’s cost effective, easy to manage and we currently have a total of over 60 confirmed designers now registered on to the on-line boutique working to upload their images - and we have not even started advertising yet!

We are also working on another new project the on on-line museum and a special mention of thanks to Carol Meads from the British Library. We are all REALLY excited about this section and the merry band at LFF and FMT are working to perfect this site ready for a full launch end September.

Finally, some more good news. Channel 4 has contacted the LFF to discuss the viability of short listing some of our highly talented designers with a view to running a new documentary. We have naturally short listed ladieswear, menswear and accessory designers so fingers crossed on this! Check this out for yourself by clicking on to the home page banner. Good luck to you all!

Can’t Get Enough Of…Jocasi
Top Shop, it seems, can do no wrong at the moment. Keeping its finger firmly on the pulse the high street giant is on the constant look out for the very latest in desirable labels. One such label riding high on a wave of success is - Jocasi. In the midst of their autumn/winter product shoot JoJo Iles met the family behind the name and got a sneaky peak at those luxurious leather pieces. [More->>]
