Hanging it all together for the fashion industry
NEWSLETTER

26th March 2008

Hello All,

It was great to see fashion designer Gavin Douglas getting praise from our very own PM at the launch of Black Britannia at City Hall last week. Douglas was acknowledged as one of 50 black role models in the photographic exhibition by Fleet Street’s first black photographer - John Ferguson. Director of FashionCapital & Fashion-Enter – Jenny Holloway has worked with Douglas, the 2006 winner of Fashion Fringe, on many occasion and reports that not only is he super talented but an easy going down-to-earth guy to boot.

New York New York

While we are on the topic of emerging new talent Jenny is currently in New York with a batch of up and coming designers from the Fashion Enter, Barking Boutique. Sponsored by Derek Levy and Barking Regeneration the designers have a full schedule of buying and press appointments to promote their collections to the max.

As we mentioned before, Profile is also going to New York in collaboration with Nolcha this September so a strong international tie for UK designers and Fashion-Enter is currently being forged with the very important US market. More on this story next week.

Practical In-Store Workshops

Meanwhile over at Fashion-Enter Boutique, Barking, Feride Aydemir is planning a series of practical workshops. Ever wanted to learn more about dress making, understand the techniques behind alterations and trimmings or even be taught how to make soft furnishings for your home?

Then these workshops could be just the ticket. Professional experts in the fashion industry Feride Aydemir and Ismail Erbil will be guiding willing students through the whole process, targeting all levels of ability from basic to those simply wanting to improve on their skills.

Feride and Ismail are both talented designers with their own labels and having been in the industry for many years have great expertise and knowledge. Feride also runs an alterations service from the boutique and will dedicate part of the workshop to various alterations on garments.

The structure of the course will be a two-hour session each week over a four week period. If you are interested in taking part in the workshops then please contact Feride directly at the Boutique.

Fashion Enter boutique is based at Vicarage Fields Shopping Centre, Ripple Road, Barking IG11 8DQ. Tel:  0208 8507 3454

Fashion Enter Boutique is much more than a store showcasing new and emerging designers. It is a lifestyle where by customers can become involved with the whole process. The highly popular couturier service enables customers to design their own garments and now these specially designed workshops will provide the knowledge and skill behind the actual production.
