Top Autumn Trends

Elsewhere on the site you can peruse the editors’ top ten trends for autumn, plus read the latest press release on the new Barking Enter boutique. The doors of the new store are due to open any minute now – so watch this space. On the new boutique, director Jenny Holloway commented:

“It’s not enough today to offer just retail to both consumers and new designers. There has to be a full package of support that enables customers to be happy and designers to have access to all level of business support irrespective of the age of their business. The Profile fashion event which is sponsored by Hobbs, Debenhams and Whistles is also excellent news for designers today. This event is in collaboration with Fashion Expo on 5th and 6th November at the Business Design Centre in Islington.”

As London Fashion Week hots up with news of Stella McCartney rounding off the event with her Adidas by Stella McCartney collection - so does the debate on the health of young fashion models. Today the press will be attending the Model Health Inquiry Interim Report briefing and our editor will be popping along to check out what the latest findings reveal. Do you think models look worryingly skinny? Or is it all media hype on the back of Size 0? Any thoughts on the topic can be e-mailed to the editor jojo@fashioncapital.co.uk.

Bread & Butter Barcelona welcomed 91,000 trade show visitors from around the globe during the 3 day exhibition last week. Our European correspondent tells us to expect a heavy dose of 1980s inspired street and sportswear come spring 08; bright clashing shades, retro graphics and slogans. Funny how what was considered naff is now the height of cool again. More from Bread & Butter on Fashion Capital soon.

Boutique of the Week…

With the in-your-face slogan theme in mind our boutique pick of the week comes from CX London with this right on the money “Drop Beats Not Bombs” tee.

Until next time have a great week,

PRINCESS AND CRYSTALS: “WE MAKE IT, YOU WORK IT” By Petrina De Gouttes
Princess and Crystals are a jewellery company that offers a unique change, something that High Street stores have yet to grasp. The robotic, mass produced jewellery lines continuously seen at High Street stores are considered dull and undesirable to the creative eye. In an age where unique ability is praised and indifference loathed, Princess and Crystals, with their handmade designs, make one-of-a-kind, statement pieces. [More->>]
