Key Purpose

Development of product, selling to retailers, within margin to achieve forecasted targets.


Principle Functions

Product

·Develops or adapts a product to reflect the retailers brand and trends for the seasons
·Costs product (fabrics,trims etc) to achieve targeted margins
·Briefs designers on customers product requirement

Commercial Awareness

·Competitive shop visits and reports and shares ideas with team
·Keeps up to date with reading material to develop the business
·Continually researches market and contributes ideas to the business

Attending Meetings

·Builds and maintains customer relationships, understanding their brand needs
·Has correct paperwork ready for handover meetings
·Builds rapport with customer
·Negotiates realistically on price, deliveries etc
·Prepares balanced commercial presentation for new and existing businesses

Suppliers

·Develops and maintains a broad _base_ of suppliers
·Communicates effectively with suppliers
·Continual exploration of new supplier opportunities
·Uses the right supplier for the right product area


Managing Relationships

·Uses negotiation and influencing skills with internal and external parties
·Can work within a team offering support where necessary


Business Skills

·Able to work on own initiative
·Can prioritise own workload
·Self motivated and can also motivate/inspire others
