Hi this is a hard one and the answer is not straight forward. TRend prediction agencies tend to cover a host of trends to ensure that they miss nothing out from the big catwalk collections and fashion houses. There are masses of sites that now cover trends and predictions and notably WGSN is one of the highest ranking sites which was recently bought out by the EMAP group for a reported £45m!

However, as a buyer from three retail companies I have always found that a signature handwriting is more important that just blidingly following trends. Just look at the current high street and review the copious amount of trends that are currently out there.

Inspiration can take many forms and as you say there are many facets that provide creative inspiration all around us.

REmember too its not just the handwriting but then how you market yourself with your logo, press release, hangers, swing tickets, marketing plan etc. WE don't offer mentoroing on the portal site www.fashioncapital.co.uk but our sister site www.fashion-enter.com provides one to one mentoring for more new and emerging designer talent.

Hi there,

I'd really appreciate a few feedback comments regarding current trend prediction sources. I was wondering how designers and people in the industry regard trend prediction publications? I was wondering how much influence they have over final designs and what influence they have within your career? Also does anybody take inspiration from people around them and generate new ideas from underground trends already being worn by niche groups of people?

So many questions.. sorry! Any comments would be gladly welcomed as I am in the beginning process of designing a trend prediction magazine.
