HI welcome to FashionCapital - what you have outlined here is actually my career path! I studied business studies BA and then I fell into fashion with my first job at Littlewoods. I then went to M&S and then Principles for Women before starting my own business.

A lot depends on your own can do personality. Business studies gives you a grounding in generic business - the 7Ps of marketing, product life cycle, SWOT analysis and then you have these skills for life but I reckon the majority of people we see at FAshion Enter Ltd are from a design background. It dpends what you want to do here...do you want to specialise as a designer or a buyer or events or....the list is endless!

Making the most of opportunities and keeping postive are real qualities that you need irrespective of your educational background.

A marketing retail course has a lot going for it too...there are more and more unis now offering this course and I know that there are courses that do business and fashion combined e.g. I think Croydon College do this and also London College of Fashion.

One point to consider is the Uni itself and also the course that's been offered - lots of variety, integration with business and commerce etc.

Best of luck with your decision

My plan for University is; if I take a business course I would have many career opportunities available and if I decided to go towards fashion (business and management sector), a business degree would help. Or would taking a marketing/ retail course be a better choice?

I need help deciding what would be the best way into the business side of fashion.
