Re:Maybe Fashion Capital can step in? 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago
Hi Jennifer. Between selling A/W and S/S collections, as salespeople we have to do roadwork. This is where we travel all over the UK and Ireland visiting retailers we supply and seeking out new ones to target. It's how we develop our data_base_s and how we know the information is correct and 1st hand. We cannot rely on magazine articles or lists from other fashion shows or the like to develop our data_base_s. This is the business we are in and would be pointless us trying to target a store or buyer that no longer exsists. I agree, updating the info is a pain & sometimes a buyer changes & we are not aware, we find this tends to happen more with the department stores and Multiples but these are relatively easy to update for us, simple phone call and we can update buyers for all area's, designer womenswear, accessory buyers etc etc. With boutiques the buyer tends to be the owner so the details do not change season on season. If the store closes, we tend to know about it. We also update regularly with regards to new stores opening. I noticed on another post you mentioned some people were confused as to what I am offering? It's simple really, it's my current data_base_ of 416 UK/Irish buyers/ addresses/contact numbers on fully functional contact manager software, complimented by an information pack which consists of handwritten material by myself which outlines how us experienced fashion salespeople successfully go about supplying premier designer UK/Irish retailers. The what and what not to do's.
It can be purchased from me directly alternatively, when I am not selling collections in season, I consult with designers also.
Hope this clarifies. ( I also don't know what a pig in a poke means!)

Hi I know that Emily has been talking to you re your data_base_s...the problem with data_base_s is that they take up so much maintenace. We have our directory and we have to work on it three times a week to keep it up todate. We have a dedicated person jade@fashion-enter.com to undertake this work. How do you manage to keep this up todate if its so extensive?

Hope business is going well for you.

Jenny

Will do Michael, I used to work a few doors up from them when I represented D&G, Exte and the like at Ittiere. Didn't think they were still there! I will say hi for you.

Hi
Perhaps you should contact Laurian Davies at UK Fashion Exports (www.5portlandplace.org.uk) used to be called The Clothing Export Council.
They may be able to help you, please tell Laurian that Michael says Hi.

So many new designers are after wholesale business & it's tough out there getting started. Budgets are cut from buyers, trade is difficult but were still writing big orders & new stores are still opening. S/S09 has been a positive season & it should be for new designers also.
The likes of the Danish Embassy have purchased multiple copies of my buyer info pack and data_base_ at a discount for their designers trying to break into the UK market and it is helping them. Other Embassies have now stepped forward as they recognise it to be a good deal & something not readily available. Maybe the Powers at Fashion Capital can do a deal with me also to get my info pack & data_base_ for Fashion Capital designers? We need to help our homegrown talent excel and get in front of buyers with a view to writing orders.
