I design tailored womenswear/ luxury daywear and until recently have made everything from samples to orders in my studio or locally.

With orders growing I would like to outsource and would like to keep sampling and hopefully, small production, in Ireland or the UK for the moment.

Some of the womens jackets and trousers are made in a mascuine tailored _style_ (ie. floating canvas and melton collars in the jackets, mens finish on waistband and pockets of trousers)

The small production prices I've been quoted by one sampling unit are £65 for each shirt (basic _style_), £95 for basic trousers and £250 upwards per jacket with a slight reduction in price for every 10 garments. For high end garments I might agree to these as sampling costs but for production costs they seem unbelievable as I could never afford to sell the garments!

Is this typical? Can any other sample makers out there give me an idea of costs. Most units I have contacted do not deal with tailored garments.
