I am a BA HONS Fashion Design Graduate.

My work was featured at Graduate Fashion Week 2008.

I am keen to make the transition from fashion designer to print designer or art worker for fashion.

I have industry experience as I undertook a placement year in London, but it was as a Pattern Room Assistant. Though my aspirations have changed since my initial degree choice and in my hearts of hearts I would love to design prints, illustrative prints for fashion clothing (such as t-shirts prints).

I am aware of how saturated the market is with t-shirts prints and want to make sure I am more than skilled in this area.

I am more than aware how difficult it is to make it in fashion whatever avenue you take, but since I am in a difficult position as I have not done a Textiles or Graphics course, I am struggling to find the right path to get into my chosen area.

I do have previous experience in screen printing and now have skills in CAD- Photoshop & Illustrator but feel this is not enough.

Any advice would be of great help to me:

Should I go into post-grad study in this specific area?
Would a short course be of any real benefit?
Do you know of any companies to approach?
Any free studio space available to develop screens?
How should I go about developing my portfolio?
