Arcadia Complete CPPD

06-06-2017

Welcoming a number of employees from Arcadia to complete a CPPD course, Jenny Holloway and production manager Caroline Ash were on hand to ensure the group learnt everything from costings to production and how an ethical factory is run.

During their insightful half day workshop, the group of ethical trading employees and assistant buyers were able to see first-hand how Fashion Enter operates as Jenny Holloway led the group on a tour, highlighting those all important issues including how a factory operates, the use of industrial machines and common problems in a factory that can impact the retailer.

Starting with the garment life cycle, Jenny ensured that the employees were informed of and aware of the many health and safety guidelines in the factory, offering insight into how each piece of machinery varies and the procedures put into place for each one.  Continuing their factory floor tour, Jenny highlighted the common problems in a factory that can often impact a retailer including fabric faults, fabric cutting, sewing, cabbage and lay plans.

Following on from this, each member was able to witness the skill of pattern cutting in the Fashion Studio where they were able to see implications of fit comments and sessions.
